Marin Summer Theater has been honored by National Youth Arts (NYA) with twenty-four nominations and five awards for the MST 2013 Season, including Outstanding Production for Les Miserables. NYA's annual National Youth Arts Awards bestows nominations and awards to honor outstanding work by youth in the arts, focusing to those under nineteen years of age. This year more than 400 productions were considered for the awards, including shows from more than 130 different theatres in more than 60 cities spanning 12 states.
Members of the MST company from all three of MST's 2013 productions of GYPSY, Almost Maine and Les Miserables earned nominations. Of our twenty-four nominations, five went on to win awards. NYA's primary categories are reserved for performers under nineteen-years-of-age, but this year it established Junior and College divisions to honor exceptional performances in those groups. MST won four NYA awards in 2012.
Congratulations to the entire 2013 company!
