2012 Season

Broadway Composer and Lyricist coming to MST this Summer

drew_g_01Marin Summer Theater is proud and excited to announce that Drew Gasparini will be brining his talents to Novato this summer!  Drew has joined the 2012 MST company as Musical Director of Spring Awakening which performs July 5-8, 2012 at the Pacheco Playhouse.

Drew graduated from San Marin High School in 2004 and was active in the local music community throughout his high school career. Drew says his inspiration and involvement with music stemmed from his parents. His mom is a music teacher and his dad is a drummer. At age 12, Drew wrote his first song as a gift to his mom on Mother’s Day.

Before moving to New York, Drew graduated from the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and majored in Vocal Technique and Musicianship. While in Los Angeles Drew says, “I was able to open for Jason Mraz and the Plain White T’s, but also write my first musical Crazy Just Like Me.”

Crazy Just Like Me has won numerous awards including “Best of Fest” at the 2011 New York Musical Theater Festival along with an honorable mention for “Best Book.”  Crazy Just Like Me will open off Broadway in Fall 2012.

Drew has performed all across the country, including sold out concerts in New York at Joe’s Pub, Les Poison Rouge, and The Laurie Beechman.

MST will officially kick off it’s 2012 season with auditions on March 24 and 31, 2012 at San Marin High School.  Any student actors, singers, or, dancers between the ages of 13 and 23 are eligible to audition. Designers, technicians and musicians are invited to submit applications by March 31.

Due to its sensitive subject matter, only actors over 18 or those with specific parental permission may audition for Spring Awakening.

Participation in MST is free for all musicians, technicians and designers.  For on-stage performers, acceptance is subject to audition and a tuition fee of $350.  Scholarships are available.  Auditions are by appointment only.  Performers who are unable to attend auditions may submit a DVD recording.  Students may apply for one, two or all three shows.  For performers, the tuition fee remains the same regardless of the number of shows they are cast in.
